Paul Minors from Rangitoto College, and Talman Madsen from Long Bay College, will compete in August, as part of a six-strong New Zealand contingent, after winning their place at a national competition last weekend.

The FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge will see teams from around the Asia-Pacific region compete to develop an entry strategy to sell a specific product in a foreign country.

Paul Minors and Talman Madsen are participants in the Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme (YES), facilitated by Enterprise North Shore, a year-long programme fostering tomorrow’s entrepreneurs in secondary schools.

“We are extremely proud of Paul and Talman’s selection,” says Terry Hoskins, Enterprise North Shore chief executive.

“It is fantastic to see skills and experience learnt through YES being utilised in this trade challenge. The YES programme is designed to enhance local students’ entrepreneurial skills, setting them up for future business success. Paul and Talman’s achievement illustrates the robust and accomplished nature of the YES programme.”'
