It's Time to ReIgnite

Every business has a set of basic, fundamental activities upon which to focus scarce resources. These activities fall generally into categories of Production and People, Finance and Management and Sales and Marketing. The diagram opposite represents these functions as equal parts of a business.

During tough times, decision makers look for ways to innovatively improve their business by juggling these functions – usually by growing or shrinking these fundamental aspects one at a time. For example, engaging heavily in sales and marketing campaigns; or improving financial efficiencies like cash flow; or hiring/firing people – perhaps investing in up-skilling? While all of these may be necessary strategies to improve business performance, shifting the focus to just one fundamental aspect can be dangerous. Like juggling balls, each facet of a business must be managed in harmony in order to prevent one ‘ball from dropping to the ground’.

It sounds a bit tricky – but there is help at hand. Enterprise North Shore’s Re-Ignite Workshop will help you identify what the fundamentals of your business are and how you can improve each fundamental aspect. This workshop is a participatory workshop enabling attendees to reinvigorate their business by addressing specific challenges. The content is self-directed: issues are addressed so that participants will leave with an actionable plan.

In preparation to manage the business fundamentals, Enterprise North Shore suggests business-people should:

1 Switch your brain into optimistic mode: Be enthusiastic about making changes to your business and allow yourself to consider options you would usually turn down. Don’t look for a silver bullet, but rather seek a long-term strategy and allocate time to work on this strategy.  Click here for more on committing yourself to optimism...

2 Complete an Excellerator online assessment - a tool designed to ask business owners pertinent questions about their business and assess their operations against world best-practice. Excellerator ‘Insight’ is specifically for those engaging in self-evaluation after 2 or 3 years in business. Click here to complete this now

3 Register for the Re-Ignite workshop Take your Excellerator report to the Re-Ignite workshop where you can gain a better understanding of the challenges you face and begin developing a strategy to maximise the fundamentals of your business and develop a plan to action. 4 ENS will follow up to help you put the plan into action. At this stage you may very well need the services of relevant paid advisors. It is important to note that not all advisors can help you with everything you need - you may need a series or a group of advisors as you may not find all the talents you need in one person. Panels of skilled and experienced advisors complement your talents and provide competent expertise. This will enable you to gear your fundamentals to meet the needs of today, and the changing business conditions of tomorrow.
