Racing towards business awards

Competition is building amongst the finalists for the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards and the friendly rivalry spilled out on to the race track at the Awards’ annual Finalist Function last night.

Over 300 North Shore business people attended the function at North Harbour Stadium to congratulate the 36 finalists for the Awards and found themselves in the hot seat of a Formula 1 race car simulator!

The excitement reached fever pitch as Awards’ entrants, sponsors and finalists ‘burned rubber’ and raced each other around the world famous Indianapolis 500 course, all vying for a place on the winner’s podium. By the end of the action-packed evening Aaron Tudor from Rad9 Computer Services showed he could convert business prowess into Formula 1 expertise as he blitzed the field to win the prestigious title of “Fastest Finalist.”

The evening, hosted by the Awards’ 17 North Shore-based sponsors, was a further celebration of the North Shore business excellence and leads in to the ultimate Gala Dinner on 28 August when the Awards winners will be announced.

“The evening’s success shows the abundance of committed optimism in the North Shore business community, at a time when it is needed most,” says Terry Hoskins, chief executive of primary co-sponsor, Enterprise North Shore.

“The interest shown by businesses at the Finalist Function and in the Awards overall shows the dedication and commitment of North Shore enterprises towards the economic success of the City,” he says.

This year’s Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards is the most successful in its 12 year history seeing a record breaking 158 entrants taking up the challenge to demonstrate their business success.
