With devil’s horns and fire themed décor adorning North Harbour Stadium, you
could be forgiven for thinking Halloween had arrived early. Instead a hot, hot, hot inspired party hammered home business success on the North Shore.
More than 120 North Shore business people, dressed in devil’s horns, gathered to celebrate this year’s winners from the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards as a finale to the awards season.
While competition for the awards is over for this year, friendly rivalry sparked again at a King of Hammers attraction - a hammer wielding test of strength! Guests challenged one another to see who would reign supreme on the side show attraction.
Awards sponsors, winners and finalists mingled together including Ingram Micro New Zealand Ltd this year’s Westpac Supreme Business Excellence winner. Vern Pilkington, human resources business manager said Ingram Micro entered the Awards as a test of its people and systems processes. “We wanted to bench mark our business against other new and established North Shore businesses and we were looking for feedback from fellow business peers and colleagues.
“The process more than met our objectives and I would recommend to any North Shore business that is open enough to receive feedback about their business, to use the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards to achieve this.”
Steve Jurkovich, regional manager for business banking at Westpac said: “These awards celebrate the essence of business excellence and amplify the strong sense of business community, both of which are in abundance on the North Shore. Enterprise North Shore chief executive Terry Hoskins acknowledged the outstanding achievement of the 2009 winners. “The incredible standard of our Awards winners in 2009 is a direct illustration of the immense business skills available in the city. With talent like this, the future of our economy looks secured.”
