Awards 2008 Finalists

Find the Fastest Finalist!

_H089097_1.jpgA celebration to congratulate the finalists in the 2008 Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards on 6th August had a speedy twist. The Westpac Corinthian Drive offices, where the function was held, sported a Formula One racecar simulator from Simdeck and a challenge for all attendees to “Find the fastest finalist”.

Finalists were given the opportunity to drive three laps of a race track. Minimal instructions on using the 6 gears through paddles on the steering wheel were provided before these brave men and women negotiated the track at high speed.

A six foot screen on the Simdeck meant that every-one could watch – and provide advice – while the racer sped around the track.   And the actions of those racers who missed turns and hit walls at high speed or – worse – ended upside down on the fence – were witnessed by all!

The competition was very tight – both verbally and in racing – but one finalist stood out with a time of just 56 seconds round the track which many others could not negotiate in less than a minute. Carl Le Vert, a software engineer, from Flow B2B Software took away the trophy and champagne on the night.

The Awards Sponsors also competed and it was the General Manager of the North Shore Times, Alan Barr, who proved his mettle as he took away the Fastest Sponsor trophy with a time of 1.02 minutes.  Andy Burrows from Icon Business Solutions was the Fastest Judge on the night with a time of 58 seconds.

Sponsors, Judges and Finalists enjoyed a lively evening hosted by Westpac and Enterprise North Shore celebrating the excellence of business on the North Shore.
