A Bumper Crop for 2008

AWARDS - A BUMPER CROP FOR 2008

June 9, 2008

North Shore businesses have rallied to achieve economic acclaim, with 115 official entries received for the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards this year.

The bumper crop of entries - eclipsing recent years in number - include an outstanding field of innovative and thriving North Shore businesses that will provide a superb competition this year, organiser Enterprise North Shore predicts.

“The enterprises behind these award entries are making an enormous contribution to the economic backbone of the North Shore, and all of us who work and/or live here benefit from their success and integrity,” Enterprise chief executive Terry Hoskins says.

“We are extremely pleased at both the number and quality of the entries, and feel confident that 2008 will be a benchmark year in this long-running excellence contest.”

Now in its 11th year, the awards have attracted entries from a diverse field of businesses including those involved in the sectors of gourmet food, healthcare, retail, real estate, education, sport, design, export, IT and transport.

Twelve categories are available this year, covering innovation, safety, marketing, exporting, design, research and technology, service delivery, technology, sustainability and environmental management.

There are also categories for best emerging business, best new start-up business and employer of choice.

Mr Hoskins says the North Shore community gains significantly from having a strong and diverse core of enterprising businesses, such as providing local employment and services as well as making a major contribution to the community.

“Each and every one of this year’s entrants are vibrant forward-thinking entities that deserve to be publicly recognised for excellence,” he says. “We would like to thank them for the efforts they have put into their entries, and hope they will enjoy taking part in the judging process.”

Finalists will be announced on July 24, with the gala dinner scheduled for August 28 at North Harbour Stadium.

The awards are sponsored by Westpac, with category sponsors of 3M, ACC, Actionmail, BCS Group, Benefitz, Chelsea Sugar, Eco Insulation, Flo2Cash, Massey University, North Shore Times, Smales Farm and Smith & Davies. The Results Group has provided facilitation services to potential entrants.
