Simpler entry process for North Shore business awards

Organisers of the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards 2005 announced yesterday that this year’s entrants will be able to call on almost double the number of Awards Facilitators than previous years to help them with the entry process.

(From left to right): Ali Chamberlain, John Mawdsley, Gillian Taylor, Alex Patterson, Kate Massey, John Groom and Louise Robertson. The Awards Facilitators can be contacted via Judy von Weichardt, Administration Manager at Enterprise North Shore, ph 414-1341 or judy@ens.org.nz.
There are seven Awards Facilitators this year, compared with four in previous years. All entrants are encouraged to enlist their free assistance.

The Awards Facilitators are well-versed in the judging criteria for each category. They are especially valuable to first-time entrants and to businesses that may have submitted an entry before but are now entering for the first time in another category.

In addition to this service, a free Awards Briefing is being held on April 14 at Sports House, Albany, providing detailed information on judges’ criteria for the 12 Awards categories and offering valuable tips on how to make the most out of entering.

Enterprise North Shore Chief Executive Terry Hoskins says the entry process is now easier than ever.

“The Awards have always enjoyed high praise from entrants. However, to ensure we would continue to deliver the very best to our entrants, we went out and sought more detailed feedback and found that North Shore business people wanted the entry process simplified. Their comments made good sense so we have made a number of changes to the entry process – including the provision of more facilitators.”

Business people will get a taste of the more streamlined system at the Awards Briefing – which itself will be more interactive than in previous years – ensuring people leave feeling confident and knowing exactly what the Awards require.

Awards Facilitators along with some of this year’s judges, category sponsors and past finalists and winners will attend the briefing – all keen to outline the entry process and help answer questions.

Judges are taking a more active role this year, attempting to visit as many entrants as possible after entries close on June 23. This is in addition to the service provided by the Awards Facilitators, who will visit businesses on request and are contactable by telephone or email.

Another change to this year’s entry process is that entrants will be required to supply only four copies of their entry, six less than in previous years, with Enterprise North Shore undertaking the copying for those businesses that enter online.

And entries themselves are shorter: a maximum of 10 pages compared with up to 16 pages in past years.

It is easier than ever for North Shore businesses to learn more about the Awards:
  • The Awards Website www.ens.org.nz/awards is packed with information
  • Enterprise North Shore offers friendly helpful advice over the phone 09 414 1341 or via email at awards@ens.org.nz, and
  • An Awards Briefing will be held from 5pm to 7pm on April 14 at Sports House, Oteha Valley Road, Albany (entry via North Harbour Stadium car park).

The closing date for entries is June 23.
