Committed Optimists

What is a Committed Optimist?  Committed_Opt_logo.jpg

The philosophy, drive and spirit of being a Committed Optimist can contribute more to enterprise success than anything else an entrepreneur can do. That may sound strange given the emphasis entrepreneurs place on things such as processes, resources and technology. But they can all be transcended by how entrepreneurs believe in being a Committed Optimist and how faithfully they carry out its principles. Don’t worry, ENS has not gone completely soft. Entrepreneurs must still be well versed and implement sound processes, be innovative, apply correct and sufficient resources and harness the best that technology can offer. Committed Optimism can be seen as the enterprising essence that holds all these hard aspects together. It provides the wherewithal to best serve customers by making things happen right the first time, in the right place, at the right time and at the right cost.

The optimism in Committed Optimism is about facing up to reality and adopting positive attitudes and behaviors that focus on success.

The 'committed' in Committed Optimism is about:

• Focused purpose to do something

• Igniting action

• Insistence on willingness, sincerity, trust and authenticity

• Being bound emotionally and intellectually to courses of action

• Being pledged and engaged in outcomes.

"Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it's not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won't. it's whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere."

-Barrack Obama

Being a Committed Optimist is most difficult, and most readily proven, right now when conditions are hard. It’s tempting to feel downhearted and despondent. Compromise is easy when customers become shy or excessively demanding and credit is in short supply.

Real success comes when you hold the line against the easy route of compromise, look on the bright side and act accordingly.
