2010 Enterprise North Shore Hall of Fame laureate - Gary Monk.
With over 30 years in the seafood industry, Gary Monk's contribution to the North Shore has been vast.
Business involvement
Gary graduated from Auckland University with a Bachelor of Law in 1975 and was admitted to the Bar the following year. He then embarked on a career in the seafood industry, establishing Takapuna-based Intersea Limited in 1983. Intersea continues to export frozen seafood to China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Mozambique, the United Kingdom, Greece and the Balkans.

Gary is a shareholder and non-executive Chairman of Mathias International Limited, a privately owned New Zealand company that exports agricultural products, vegetables, poultry and seafood. The company employs 30 people in Auckland and has wholly owned subsidiaries in Melbourne, Cape Town, London, Dalian, and Buenos Aires.
He is a director and non executive chairman of New Zealand Light Leathers Limited (NZLL), a Timaru tannery producing red deer leather to the major fashion houses of Europe and to China and the USA; and is also a director of Radio New Zealand Ltd.
Whilst still a member of the trade association, Gary is now focused on Intersea, directorships, family and becoming more actively involved in the North Shore community.
